This blog post draws from insights I gained at the United Nations Environment Program MOP36, where sessions , focused on Life Cycle Refrigerant Management. My invitation to this event was based on a factsheet we published on Certification and Licensing practices in India’s Refrigeration and Air- Conditioning sector.

This overview highlights key themes and essential facts about Life Cycle Refrigerant Management (LRM), drawing from multiple sources. The primary goal is to minimize emissions of ozone-depleting substances (ODS) and high-global warming potential (GWP) refrigerants throughout their entire lifecycle, from production to disposal—a critical approach for combating climate change and protecting the ozone layer.
